Day 8: Frootogo!

Today was Ariel's first Preschool field trip, and Elyse and I were lucky enough to get to go with!  We visited Frootogo, a local apple orchard, along with all of Ariel's classmates and their parents/siblings from both sets of days (we go weds/fri, but there's also a tues/thurs group).

The morning went something like this:  arrival and meet up with our group and tour guide; walk to MASSIVE play area for a short play; back to hay bails for apple juice and cookies; into the hundred-year-old barn for a fun puppet show; out into the apple orchards to learn about apple trees and pick our own apples; then a tractor wagon ride to finish it all off!

The sun was shining; the weather was fair:  we had an amazing time!

Learning how to pick an apple:  think 'eye to the sky', where the bottom of the apple is the 'eye' and all you have to do is tilt it up to the sky to get it to come off!

Today also marks Elyse's 11 month birthday!  It's hard to believe in one month she'll be one!  I feel like I almost don't have a baby anymore, and yet, I just had a baby!  Time continues to fly.  Yesterday in the park, I watched Ariel run up the play structure and down the slide, and wondered where all of her baby days went.  It's sad when you realize those days are gone forever, but also wonderful to live in the moment of where your children are at, knowing exactly how far they have come.

At 11 months, Elyse can now sit on her own (precariously) for longer periods of time.  She lays on her tummy and plays with toys on her side.  Her hair has to be tied back in a pony on top of her head, it's so long, and she wears 9 - 12 month clothing.  She has tiny and delicate features that compliment her sweetness.  She loves to swing, play with toys in her Bumbo and gaze and laugh at her sister.  She also loves: holding her spoon, banging toys together or tapping them off something, being read to, and is delighted by any form of music.

Elyse plays peek-a-boo, can clap her hands, makes a variety of interesting sounds and speaks volumes with her eyes.  Eyes that match her daddy's and her sister's.  See below for story time and sisters at play:)
