Here is the new baby's closet, all stocked, and ready to go!
I took a similar picture of Ariel's closet (the same one) before she was born:
Ariel's new room is a work in progress. Her books still all need to be moved in once we finalize dresser/bookshelf locations. There is an air vent issue causing some controversy.
Here's how her new room looks so far:
The white dresser was mine as a child through university, and is somehow still in good shape! The caterpillar rug was a beautiful gift and creation by my friend Randi.
Empty bookshelf looks so sad
"A time to Play lasts all day"
Ikea crib = awesome!
"Dream"
We just put Ariel down to sleep in her new room for the first time. She was awake most of the night last night so we figured her sleep could not get any worse - why not go for it! She is normally a fantastic sleeper, but the last month has been rough with illness, changes to her care and routine, and now we are back to TEETHING again! I can see both of her bottom fangs just poking through the little bright red mounds that have become of her gums.
We are only 30 minutes into dreamland, but so far the change has been a success! Once story time was done, and we sang and had our cuddles, Ariel willingly went in her crib, but of course, did not want to be left. When Dan and I both crept out she cried for quite a bit, but the wails grew fainter and fewer and farther in between until nothing but golden silence remained.
If you are into children's books (as I very much am), then you will notice there are quite a lot of stories that have good endings for sending children off to sleep! I can't help but be reminded of the ending of Madeline, written by Ludwig Bemelmans, and would like to share it to conclude tonight's blog.
""Good night, little girls!
Thank the lord you are well!
And now go to sleep!"
said Miss Clavel.
And she turned out the light -
and closed the door -
and that's all there is -
there isn't any more."
Sweet dreams and good night my little angel!
